Funded 'Bridging the Gap' Olympic Games Project

CRW are delighted to be supporting "Bridging the Gap", a scheme which has been put in place to deliver SIA licensed young people into the Security and Public Services Industry via the Further and Higher Education sectors.

This course is funded and provides thousands of new recruits the opportunity to be brought into the guarding sector in time for the 2012 Olympic Games thanks to a unique partnership forged between the security industry, Central Government and key players in the education and training sector.

In essence, Bridging the Gap provides a formal qualification for 16 -19 year olds in Further Education and 6th form students from across the UK, leading to a guaranteed job interview with a appointed organisation and, for some Bridging The Gap 'graduates', the opportunity to assist in the security arrangements for London 2012.

The specialist Bridging the Gap 'Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events' qualification can be attached to a student’s main programme of study (for example public uniformed services, travel and tourism, business studies or sports studies).

The project aims to enhance employment opportunities for participants through the introduction of a new industry approved ‘fit for purpose’ qualification, delivered by a network of specialist approved training providers and teachers.
The project will also provide large numbers of learners via a structured development programme. They will have transferable skills and qualifications that will lead to more opportunities to work within industry, particularly the 2012 London Olympics and thereafter.

This course is ideal for Army/Sea and Air cadets as well as  those in youth opportunity schemes.

The course can be delivered within a four day period and the students will gain a level 2 award.

This can be done on site at our own training premises in Swindon, or alternatively it can be delivered in-house at your premises.

Course numbers must be between 15 and 20.

Following graduation from a Bridging the Gap course, students will be guaranteed a job interview with a British Security Industry Association member. Members of the BSIA have also commited to providing work experience placements for Bridging the Gap graduates in order for them to gain additional experience within the private security industry.

The Bridging the Gap initiative has also been awarded the London 2012 'Inspire Mark'. This is awarded to projects which have been directly inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It is hoped that the project will offer a gateway into long-term careers within the security industry, providing a lasting legacy for young adults.
